We were pleased to be invited to the recent launch of the ‘Opportunity Bucks‘ programme, the local initiative for levelling up in Buckinghamshire. The programme aims to address disparity in Buckinghamshire and create equality of opportunity for all residents and communities across the County, ensuring they have ready access to the means to thrive and achieve. It will initially focus on ten identified wards where residents are experiencing poorer outcomes around work, health and education.
Robin Walker, Vice Chair, The Clare Foundation
‘I was delighted to attend the ‘Opportunity Bucks‘ launch hosted by Buckinghamshire Council, which focussed on the levelling up that is needed in our county along with the national need. It was clear that those outside our county forget there are areas of real need locally and this was the opportunity to start work on a plan to do something about it. The range of speakers and both Council and Charity Leaders showed that this is an area of concern that is to be taken seriously in Buckinghamshire as well as across the nation, I am sure our Team at TCF will be involved in several ways in the years to come.’
Martin Gallagher, CEO, The Clare Foundation
‘The Clare Foundation has played a major role working with sector colleagues, charities and partners in recent years; the recent Buckinghamshire Council ‘Opportunity Bucks’ event highlighted the serious gaps in the levelling up agenda, areas of unmet need and the support that will be required in years to come. We are positive that we will be able to support plans by working with Council Leaders, like-minded charities and key partners to alleviate some of the findings, acting on the recommendations as they become highlighted and helping those most in need.’
