It is always a pleasure to visit the charities we have supported with funding, support and advice. Martin Gallagher, TCF CEO, recently enjoyed a morning at Milton’s Cottage where the writer John Milton lived while he completed his great work ‘Paradise Lost’ and was inspired to write its sequel ‘Paradise Regained’.
Milton’s Cottage is open to visitors and hosts a number of exhibitions, events and workshops throughout the year.
“Taking part in the arts is a great way for young people to get their voice heard, improve communication skills, build self-esteem and boost confidence. Support from The Clare Foundation means we are able to offer young people the chance to express themselves where one of the world’s greatest poems was created.”
Kelly O’Reilly, Business Director at Milton’s Cottage
“The Trust has explored many ways of reaching new audiences with great success. Our work helps to bring young people a greater sense of self-esteem and confidence. Milton’s legacy really has many ways of healing in the chaotic world in which we live today.”
John Dugdale Bradley, Trustee of Milton’s Cottage
“Milton’s Cottage, in Chalfont St Giles, is one of the oldest, most prestigious and historically influential buildings in England. Milton, who is most famous for his epic poetry, wrote poetry and prose between 1632 and 1674.
The Clare Foundation was delighted to provide a small grant for a pilot project that encouraged children from across Buckinghamshire to visit, listen and participate in fun learning.
Congratulations to John Dugdale Bradley, his fellow Trustees, and Kelly O’Reilly, the Business Director on continuing to promote Milton’s legacy .”
