Last week we hosted a roundtable looking at loneliness. Our leads were two of our Trustees: Clare Periton and Arif Hussain.

Clare Periton, Trustee and Chair of Charity Services at The Clare Foundation:

“I am most grateful to all the charities, statutory organisations and council leaders, who attended our very recent roundtable on loneliness.

As we learned from sector colleagues ’loneliness’ is not just about the elderly, it is also about the young people. Over the next few months we’ll look as a group how The Clare Foundation, can support various charities and communities to minimise loneliness.”

Martin Gallagher, CEO, The Clare Foundation:

“The opportunity to bring key stakeholders and partners together to discuss loneliness was both important and timely. I am most grateful to Mark Russell, CEO at Age UK Bucks, for his insight and wealth of experience. We must acknowledge the expertise in the room to ensure that we work together to at least alleviate some of the pressure that comes from people, being lonely. Loneliness, leads to desperate things, and therefore there’s a duty of care in society to help minimise these situations.”
