Edward Clare, our Founder Mike Clare’s son, recently took part in Kenny Logan’s Rugby World Cup Challenge raising funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation whose mission is ‘a world free of MND’.
Here is what Edward had to say about the experience:
‘On Sunday 1st October 2023, I joined Kenny Logan and an amazing team, in a unique and gruelling challenge by covering 700 miles cycling and walking from Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh to the Stade de France, Paris taking over 6 days.
I was never the keenest cycler when Kenny asked me to join him on this challenge. The training in the saddle really paid off and tested mental strength. From cycling 100 miles one day to walking 15 miles the next, consecutively for 6 days!
We were joined with host of famous faces – Gabby Logan, Jason Fox, James Nesbitt, Jamie Bamber, Kirsty Gallagher and Ally McCoist. The challenge was also supported by the Rugby World Cup and our aim was to deliver the rugby world cup match ball for the Scotland v Ireland match on Saturday 7th October, as well as raising important funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation in their fight against Motor Neuron Disease.
The incredible team and I managed to raise well over £600,000 for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. MND is still very underfunded and investing in research lies at the heart of everything the charity does. It allows world-leading experts to investigate potential drugs, expedite new treatments, fundamentally and work towards finding a cure for MND.
An incredible week, with memories made for life!’
Congratulations to Edward and the whole team for completing such an amazing fundraising challenge for a very deserving cause. If you would like to make a donation, please click here.
