Aylesbury Festival of Lights goes digital

Poonam Gupta, founder and organiser, approached us for support to deliver this year’s festival as an online event in response to the ongoing Covid restrictions. The Clare Foundation were delighted to be able to support the Aylesbury Festival of Lights this November with a grant of £500.

The Aylesbury Diwali – Festival of Lights project first came about towards the end of August 2017. On a whim, Poonam Gupta (owner of Holy Cow Home) decided to organise the Festival of Lights as a way to bring communities together and celebrate this festival aka Diwali the Hindu new year.

The festival has gone from strength to strength, returning each year bigger and better than the last. Determined not to allow the pandemic to stop the festival going ahead in 2020, Poonam and her team have risen to the challenge of delivering the event digitally.

Diwali, as the celebration of light, is a festival of diversity. They pride themselves on being an inclusive event, and encourage people of all cultures, spiritualties, ages and abilities to join in the celebration. They plan to reflect this diversity in their event with a varied programme of – music, dancing, cultural traditions, health and well-being, food/drink…and more!

You can follow them on Facebook here and get tickets to the free event here

They promise you a wonderful day full of light, life and love! Please join in, and do spread the word!
