‘Back to school kit packs’

The Clare Foundation recently awarded a £5000 grant to St Peter’s Church in Loudwater to help them put together ‘Back to School kit packs’ for children whose parents are experiencing financial hardship. The Clare Foundation supported 61 children who needed new uniforms and equipment for the start of the academic year .

The families identified from two different schools received school supply packs which included the following;
(Logo PE top, logo Polo, top Polo, Tops, Trousers, Skirts, Shirts, Socks, Clarks £40 Shoe voucher, lunch box, stationary, Water bottle and PE bag)

St Peter’s Church has received such fantastic feedback from families and it clearly has eased the pressure felt by so many of them.

Mrs Jo Moore, Headteacher of Wooburn Green Primary School talks about the impact of the school kits…

“I have witnessed first-hand the immense impact you have had on very vulnerable children and families in the last few days. I have seen pupils walk into school on the first day of school tall and proud in their brand-new uniform; I have seen children, who have never had their own pencil case and resources, light up when they received their special bag of back-to-school goodies. Some of our children and families don’t know who to thank, as we’ve handed out the packs in school, so please accept my thanks on their behalf. It really is a wonderful thing that you have done for local children.

The impact on our pupils’ self-esteem and confidence as they walk through the school gates at the start of the school year will have been significant and I am confident this will have a lasting impact on them in their school year. You will have removed the financial burden and worry that the return for school can have for parents and in its place, your generosity has enabled those parents to experience that sense of parental pride that so many of us take for granted and which is rooted in seeing our children at their best and fully prepared for a school day.

I honestly cannot share how grateful I am. You have ensured every child, no matter what their circumstances in life, get off to a great school year.”
