Volunteers’ Week is supported and celebrated by organisations of all different sizes from small grassroots volunteer-led groups right up to the larger, household-name, national charities.
A wide variety of activities will be happening across the country from volunteer recruitment events and open days to celebration and recognition events.
The Clare Foundation supports not for profits based in Buckinghamshire or national and regional charities who deliver significant programmes and services here, and this Volunteers’ Week we’re calling on local people to consider volunteering here in Bucks.
National statistics
Nationally, volunteering is at its lowest levels for a decade. Sector leaders recognise that Covid has had a huge impact on the number of people able to volunteer. Many lifelong volunteers stepped back from their roles during the pandemic and some have decided not to return. The Charities Aid Foundation’s UK Giving report found that only 13% of people said they volunteered in the last year, compared with 17% pre-pandemic, representing about 1.6 million fewer people volunteering over the past five years.
